Your expedition begins as you arrive in Moshi, a vibrant town situated at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will be greeted by our friendly team and transferred to your accommodation. Take this time to rest, acclimate to the altitude, and meet your fellow trekkers.
After breakfast, we drive to the Lemosho Gate, the starting point of our trek. Here, we complete the necessary registration formalities and meet our experienced guides and porters. The hike commences through the lush rainforest of the Lemosho Glades, where you may encounter unique flora and fauna. Our camp for the night is the Mti Mkubwa Camp, surrounded by the enchanting sounds of nature.
As we continue our ascent, the trail leads us through moorland terrain, characterized by heather and volcanic rock formations. We gradually gain altitude and reach the Shira Plateau, where the views open up to reveal the vastness of the landscape. Our camp for the night is the Shira 1 Camp, nestled in a picturesque setting.
We embark on a steady hike from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp, situated at a higher elevation. Along the way, we pass through the stunning Shira Cathedral and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding plains. As we settle into the camp, we prepare for the challenges and rewards that lie ahead.
Today's hike takes us through the alpine desert zone, with its vast stretches of rugged and barren landscape. We trek to Barranco Camp, located in the beautiful Barranco Valley. The highlight of the day is conquering the Barranco Wall, a thrilling section that requires some scrambling. As we reach the camp, we are treated to breathtaking views of the surroundings.
We continue our journey, traversing through the Karanga Valley, a picturesque area known for its stunning vistas. The trail gradually ascends, offering views of the Southern Glaciers of Kilimanjaro. We arrive at Karanga Camp, where we rest and prepare for the final push to the summit.
Today's trek takes us to Barafu Camp, our base camp for the summit attempt. The path becomes steeper as we approach the rocky terrain. Upon reaching Barafu Camp, we rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the challenging summit night that awaits us.
The summit day begins before dawn as we embark on the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. With headlamps lighting the way, we navigate through the steep and icy sections of the mountain. As we reach the summit, we are greeted by a breathtaking sunrise and a sense of accomplishment like no other. After celebrating our success, we begin our descent back to Barafu Camp. From there, we continue down to Mweka Camp, where we spend our final night on the mountain.
