Your Kilimanjaro climbing adventure begins at the Lemosho Gate, where you'll complete necessary registrations and meet your experienced guides and porters. The trail starts through lush rainforests, where you may spot various bird species and monkeys. Trekking for approximately 4-5 hours, you'll reach the Big Tree Camp, your first campsite on the mountain.
Leaving the Big Tree Camp behind, you'll continue your ascent through the rainforest. As you gain altitude, the vegetation gradually changes, and the landscapes open up to reveal sweeping views of the surrounding savannah. Today's trek takes you to the Shira 1 Camp, located at an elevation of approximately 3,505 meters (11,500 feet).
On this day, you'll embark on a steady climb towards the alpine desert zone. The trail takes you through rocky terrain and the captivating Senecio forest. As you approach the Lava Tower, a volcanic formation at an elevation of 4,630 meters (15,190 feet), you'll witness stunning panoramic views. After a short break, you'll descend to the Barranco Camp, situated at 3,960 meters (13,000 feet).
Today's trek starts with a challenging scramble up the Barranco Wall, which rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. As you continue along the ridges and valleys, you'll enter the alpine desert zone. After crossing several streams and valleys, you'll arrive at the Karanga Camp, located at an elevation of 3,995 meters (13,106 feet).
Leaving Karanga Camp, you'll embark on a relatively short but steep climb towards Barafu Camp. The trail offers spectacular views of the southern glaciers and the rugged Mawenzi peak. Upon reaching Barafu Camp, situated at 4,673 meters (15,331 feet), you'll rest and prepare for the final push to the summit.
Summit day is the ultimate challenge of your Kilimanjaro climbing expedition. Starting in the early hours of the morning, you'll begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). The trek is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding. As the sun rises, you'll reach the summit, where you'll witness breathtaking views and celebrate your achievement. After taking in the beauty of the summit, you'll descend to the Mweka Camp, located at 3,110 meters (10,204 feet), where you'll spend your final night on the mountain.
