Your adventure commences at the Machame Gate, the starting point of the Machame Route. After registration and a briefing, you'll enter the lush rainforest, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. The first day's hike takes approximately 5-7 hours, covering a distance of about 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) until you reach Machame Camp. Settle into your camp, enjoy a warm meal, and rest for the challenges that lie ahead.

On day two, you will ascend from Machame Camp to the breathtaking Shira Plateau. As you leave the rainforest behind, the landscape transforms, revealing sweeping vistas of rolling hills and the vast African plains. The trek becomes more challenging, but the stunning scenery serves as motivation to push forward. After a day of rigorous trekking, you will arrive at Shira Camp, situated near a rocky outcrop on the Shira Plateau. Take in the panoramic views of Mount Meru and the stunning African sunset, creating a canvas of colors across the vast horizon. Rest and recharge, as the following day will take you back towards the Machame Gate.

Descending through Moorland and Rainforest As your trek nears its end, it's time to bid farewell to the Shira Camp and begin your descent towards the Machame Gate. The trail takes you through the moorland, a unique ecosystem characterized by low vegetation and stunning landscapes. Descending further, you will reenter the enchanting rainforest, surrounded by towering trees and the symphony of bird songs.
