Day 1: oshi – Lemosho Park Gate – Big Tree Campsite (Mti Mkubwa Camp)

After breakfast, depart Moshi for a scenic 3 to 4-hour drive to Lemosho Park Gate (2,100 m), where you'll complete park registration before starting your climb. Your trek begins through Kilimanjaro's lush rainforest, home to towering trees, colorful birds, blue monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. The trail climbs gently, making it an excellent introduction to the mountain while allowing your body to begin acclimatizing naturally. After trekking approximately 6 km, you'll arrive at Big Tree Campsite (Mti Mkubwa Camp – 2,650 m), where your tents will already be prepared by the mountain crew. Leaving the rainforest behind, today's trek enters Kilimanjaro's spectacular heath and moorland zone. After a short break, continue across the plateau toward Shira II Campsite (3,850 m), passing unique alpine vegetation and ancient volcanic formations.
