After breakfast, travel from Moshi to Lemosho Park Gate, a drive of approximately 3 to 4 hours, where you'll complete registration before entering Kilimanjaro National Park. The trek starts on a peaceful rainforest trail surrounded by ancient trees, tropical vegetation, and abundant birdlife. The gradual climb provides a comfortable introduction to the mountain while allowing your body to begin adapting to the altitude. Arrive at Big Tree Campsite (Mti Mkubwa Camp) in the afternoon, where your tents will already be prepared and a freshly cooked dinner awaits.

Today's journey takes you above the forest into Kilimanjaro's scenic moorland zone. Continue across the breathtaking Shira Plateau, one of the largest high-altitude plateaus in Africa, before reaching Shira II Campsite. This shorter trekking day plays an important role in improving acclimatization before the summit attempt.
