This day is important because you gain more altitude, so the guides will keep the pace pole pole to help your body adjust. Today you will leave Horombo Hut and trek across the famous saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo toward Kibo Hut. The landscape becomes drier, colder, and more open as you enter the alpine desert zone. This section feels very different from the first two days because the vegetation is limited and the mountain environment becomes more serious. The pace will be slow because the altitude is high and the air is thinner. When you reach Kibo Hut, you will rest, eat early, and prepare your warm clothes, headlamp, water, and snacks for the midnight summit attempt. This is the final preparation before climbing to Uhuru Peak.
